Blog PostThe main reason companies started a business blog post was to drive more traffic to their website, but it’s not a smart business strategy to initially build it. You could invest Thousands of dollars and lots of readers in a business blog, and if nobody ever read it, it wouldn’t be a success. It’s unread. Unshared. Unprofitable. Optimizing your blog posts for search engines is the best way to drive traffic to your site.

On-page SEO versus off-page SEO

Because we’ll be focusing on optimizing blog posts, we’ll focus on on-page SEO only. On-page SEO, as the name suggests, is anything you do to a page to improve the optimization falling under the scope of on-page SEO. For example, let’s say you aimed to optimize

 https://YourSite.com blog product.html. All the changes you would make to the site to improve search engine results would be within the scope of on-page SEO.

1. Find the right subject to cover.

Does this sound like the beginning of your content marketing strategy? It is. Your content marketing strategy should be informed  by  your SEO goals, and  vice versa.  Notice I said  informed by, not  determined by. You will need to decide upon potent subjects since, even though a particular keyword may be ranked, it is not unusual for your will to get found out from the greatest searched-for topic out there. When you choose to focus on a particular topic to rank on the front page, you must prepare an article that will be a strong foundation.

When you’re ranking a keyword on the first page, I’m referring to achieving the first position in search results.

For writing for the web. How people are searching, what they are searching for, and what they are asking about these subjects are your primary considerations. From there, you go into the editorial process to decide whether these topics are of value to your audience.

I see that people are searching for fried green tomato recipes. Is this relevant to our visitors? Are we capable of providing the answers?

3. Write the best possible headline you can.

The headline is important because you are creating content for more than just the search engines. Yes, it is important to rank, but the goal is t to rank. The end goal is to get people to read your content and take actions that are good for you. The title of your blog post will not only boost your post’s ranking but also increase the likelihood of someone you care about paying attention to the listing.

It’s best to place the keyword as close to the beginning of the headline as possible: Long Tail Keywords, Are They All You Should Care About?  should perform better in the search results than Should you not Care About Anything Except Long Tail Keywords in Your SEO?

But the keywords shouldn’t start out the headline. Most people spend less than 6 seconds on a search results page before deciding to act, and they are unlikely to click a bad headline, nominate no keywords, or celebrities. Keep in mind that it doesn’t make a difference how high you rank if nobody clicks on your listing.

4. Use your keyword in the subtitles.

Sub-headers provide the next place to use your keyword. H2 or H3 tags in your subheader markup are highly encouraged.

Subheaders make your post not only easier to read but also easier to scan. Readers tend to scan discussions more than they study them. If you are attempting to fight this, forcing your readers to read every word will undermine your objective. Remember, there are a lot of websites on the web. They are only one click away.

Get your keyword in at least one subheader. If possible, add one or more variants on your keyword to other subheaders. As Google gets better at deciphering a searcher’s intent, words with similar meanings and related terms increase in SEO value.

5. Vary your keyword throughout the text of your post.

An alternative could be singular versus plural, or closely related terms such as SEO versus search engine optimization. If you stick with more generic terms in this way, the search engines will have a better understanding of your work. That s one of the factors that keep them in mind.

Successful content creators are the ones who write for people (not search engines). They do not repeat the phrase Naples Florida time-share two-bedroom apartment, nor if they do, they do not use it more than once every hundred words or so. If they do, they sound like robots.

6. Place keyword and keyword variations into the alternative tags of your images strategically.

Text description for short alternative tags for the main images in your Facebook posts and aim for it to be around 70 characters long. Use these keywords and their variations for the tags.

Search engines read alt text tags but they also appear in other surprising locations. If someone pins one of your images to Pinterest, the default description of the pin will be the alt text that accompanies it.

7. Add your keyword to your website’s URL.

It provides another small indicator of the page being about the keyword. Moreover, seeing the keyword in URL increases your viewer’s confidence about picking your site from so many others.

8. Write an enticing meta description tag to use your keyword, as that is what will interest human users the most.

Keep your meta description under 150 characters and spaces. Think of your meta tags as if they were ad copy   since they are. It’s amusing how absorbed and intimate we become calculating pay-per-click ad copy, but hardly spend a cent writing meta description tags. Those meta description tags will be seen right next to that precious PPC ad copy. Your meta descriptions are competing against PPC copy, so make them count.

You want to prepare leaderboard pieces as carefully as if they were ad copy, so you can craft those parts using Portent’s SERP (Search Engine Results Page) preview tool.

9.Link to other pages of your website.

These internal links send page authority to other pages on your website. Having other pages of your site linking to this new post can also help it get found faster. It also passes some page authority from those existing pages to your new page.

10.Introduce a fresh twist to familiar topics.

This tip is most beneficial for the visitors to your site than search engines. Don’t just cut and paste what’s already been said. Don’t just find the most popular post about a particular topic and find someone to rewrite it.

Question the experts. Or email a scientist to get a quote. That kind of information cannot be found anywhere else.

As you publish engaging posts, your bounce rates decrease. People will spend more time on your site and return regularly. Google is currently recording all of this. In delivering a good experience that their clients appreciate, they are laser-focused on delivering a good user experience. A post they like will tend to attract additional viewers to your web page.
