Bajaj Pulsar RS 200 – Bajaj over the years has come a long way.
This statement holds when one analyzes how the bikes from this motorcycle OEM look now. Take for instance the Pulsar 150 in its initial days. Sure it looked masculine but soon, its appeal began to fade.
That is not the case with the Bajaj Pulsar RS 200.
Since the bike’s introduction, the Indian motorcycle market was taken by storm by this appealing motorcycle. The RS200 has an aggressive and fresh design language that readily puts Bajaj in league with global players in the market.
This post, in the following sections, will try to highlight some of the top (and cool) aspects of the Bajaj Pulsar RS 200 that makes it a must-buy –
Overall looks ( Bajaj Pulsar RS 200 )
The highlight of the RS 200’s overall design language begins with the placement of the two projector headlamp units.
From a distance, they resemble the eyes of a rattlesnake! These two units are flanked on the sides by two pilot lamps (LEDs). The indicators on the bike are all LEDs. The bike is also equipped with a big windscreen that is quite useful during long rides at cruising speeds.
The tail section of the bike has integrated grab rails. The overall look of the tail lamp is something that is never seen before. The exhaust of the Bajaj Pulsar RS 200 is a short unit that has an appealing design.
Overall, the bike is undoubtedly one of the best looking motorcycles currently available in India.
Features
To be honest, there are some signs of cost-cutting when one takes a closer look at the RS 200.
For instance, the bike shares some parts with other motorcycles from Bajaj’s stable. An example is the instrument cluster of the motorcycle. It is taken from the NS 200. The bike comes with an analogue tachometer but has a digital fuel gauge.
The left side of the centre console has –
- Turn indicators
- Neutral indicator
- Oil-level indicator and
- Battery indicator.
The right side of the console has a basic display unit that offers information to the rider such as –
- Current speed
- Twin trip information
- Current time and
- Side stand engaged information.
The cluster comes with a blue backlight and also is equipped with a gear shift indicator. The bike has ABS and there is an indicator for that as well.
The switches on the bike are yet again borrowed from the NS 200. The rear-view mirrors are wide enough and quality assured.
Overall performance
The bike is powered by the 200 CC, liquid-cooled, single-cylinder, BS-6-tuned engine that powers the NS 200. It is a fuel-injected engine that has a power and torque output of 24.2bhp and 18.6Nm respectively.
The engine is more refined compared to the ones that power the NS 200. The power delivery of the motor is linear but there is a lack of power in the lower RPM ranges.
The best performance of the bike comes as soon as the engine surpasses the 4,000 RPM range. The bike comes with a smooth-shifting, six-speed gearbox. Its gear ratios are suited to handle the additional weight of the RS 200.
Check – Bajaj Bikes Price List
The clutch on the bike is light and the bike is capable of attaining a maximum speed of 151 KMPH. Tests on tracks revealed that a rider can touch a top speed of 144 KMPH.
The bike has a fuel tank capacity of 13 litres. This is enough to ride the bike for a good 300+ KMS.
Handling
The RS 200 is an agile and planted motorcycle thanks to the perimeter frame it is equipped with. It has a short wheelbase but a long swingarm that makes it nimble on the corners, even at high speeds. The bike has MRF Zapper tyres that allow riders to get a good grip on asphalt irrespective of road conditions.
Verdict
According to the official Bajaj bikes price list, the RS 200 Pulsar is available at 1, 93,556. It is the on-road Mumbai price. At this price point, it is undoubtedly a must buy. It is as simple as that!
