What is an importer license?
Importer license is a form of Legal Metrology Certificate mandatory requirement for an importer who also packages the product. As per the Legal Metrology Packaged Commodities rules, such an importer has to keep in mind the regulations when displaying the information about the product on its packaging.
As per the rules, it’s mandatory for the importer to present the following information on the package:
- Name of manufacturing country of the product
- Details of the manufacturer
- Month and year of manufacturing

- Submit the physical copies of the application and the document to the Legal Metrology Office active in your region.
- The application will go through a general but effective assessment.
- If the Departments finds that it follows all the regulatory criteria required, you’ll obtain the Dealer certification.
Product Stamping
