Somewhat overshadowed by Rolex’s flagship novelties for 2022 was a slightly refreshed version of the iconic
“President” – made entirely of platinum, including a crimped bezel.

fluted element is for the first time made of the same 950 platinum as the rest of the watch. The ring required a new approach to the production process from Rolex, as platinum is a metal of greater density (and therefore more difficult to process and form) than gold,
which has been used so far. The 40 mm Day-Date therefore has a platinum bezel mounted on a platinum, glossy Oyster case with a twisted platinum Twinlock crown. The case is attached to a platinum “President” bracelet, made of rows of three-piece, semicircular links (satin and polished) and fastened with an aesthetically integrated crown clasp.

simple white gold indexes, headed by Roman even indexes. At 3 shows the date, and on the 12th there is an arched window with the day of the week. The golden Rolex crown proudly displays just below it. The time is measured by three simple, bevelled hands, headed by a blue second hand.
The full case back hides the driving watch, automatic caliber 3255. This in-house construction, unveiled 7 years ago, has a power reserve of 70 hours,
a balance equipped with an anti-magnetic Parachrome spring and a Paraflex anti-shock system. The Werk is also certified as a Superlative Chronometer, which means that the precision of its gait should be within the range of – 2 / + 2 s a day.
Traditionally, Rolex does not list the price of platinum models, so we cannot provide you with the price of the Oyster Perpetual Day-Date Platinum. For 2022, Rolex has prepared the GMT-Master II model with a black and green bezel and a rather rare solution,
i.e. the crown on the left side.
As every year, before the official presentation of new Rolex products, many people speculated what we will see this time. And while the changes usually concerned the size or color of the dial,
this time – unexpectedly – the Swiss surprised by preparing the GMT-Master II model with the crown placed on the left side of the case.

The model has been offered by the company with the crown in the logo since the early 1980s and has so far appeared in several versions, including Batman and Pepsi.

And the most awaited moment is behind us. Rolex has already shown the watches prepared for this year, proving once again that instead of big changes, we should rather take a magnifying glass to find any at all. I looked at the new Explorer II for a few minutes to finally come to what was modified.
Rolex left a 42mm case with a brushed steel bezel and a black 24-hour scale engraved in it. The Twinlock lace with accompanying safety elements has also been preserved. The ears tend to be a bit thinner (changes similar to those of the Submariner).
The watch is closed from the top by a sapphire crystal with anti-reflection and visible at 3 magnifying glass, under which – on a white or black,
lacquered dial – a date window has been integrated. The dial is made of a minute scale with accompanying indexes, filled with Chromalight. The set of standard hands is made of white gold,
in a white version covered with a matte black PVD coating (version with a white dial), which is intended to provide better readability. The project is complemented by an orange GMT hand operating in a 24-hour system,
ending with a large, triangular tip. The model name is also printed in orange.
The new Explorer II ref. 226570 from its predecessor ref. 216570 differs primarily in the mechanism. The well-worn 3187 now replaces the now 4Hz-clocked caliber 3285 with a Chronergy escapement,
Parachrom spring and a 70-hour power reserve. Like all Rolex watches, this one is also COSC certified.
Explorera II is combined with an Oyster bracelet,
finished with a clasp with the Easylink system (additional link enabling extension or shortening by 5 mm).
The new Rolex Explorer II ref. 226 570 will cost EUR 8,050 (~ PLN 37,000).
