The transport sector greatly impacts the environment because it uses many motor vehicles. To limit the environmental impact, the sector can opt for sustainable protective packaging materials. In addition, certain products are now 100 percent recyclable or can be reused.
This article gives six tips on how transporters and moving companies can choose sustainable materials during transport and relocations.
TIP 1: CHOOSE DURABLE MOVING BLANKETS OR STORAGE BLANKETS
Durable moving or storage blankets are very effective. During the transport of fragile goods such as furniture, it prevents scratches or other damage. You can also use plastic furniture covers for extra protection. These protect your furniture against any moisture and dirt.
Britwrap considers it very important that products are reused. That is why we have sustainable moving and storage covers or bags.
TIP 2: CHOOSE ECO RECYCLED BUBBLE WRAP
Bubble wrap is also known as bubble wrap in Belgium. During transport, bubble wrap is used to protect materials. Bubble wrap protects against impact and can also be used as padding material.
Bubble wrap is now also available in an environmentally friendly version. In this way, it is possible to protect your cargo sustainably. The ECO recycled bubble wrap is just as strong as the standard bubble wrap. In addition, bubble wrap is made from 50 to 60 percent recycled plastic.
The ECO recycled bubble wrap can be attached in a sustainable way or sealed with paper tape.
TIP 3: CHOOSE ENVIRONMENTALLY FRIENDLY PAPER TAPE
Because sustainable entrepreneurship is becoming increasingly popular, entrepreneurs are switching to other materials. An example of this is durable paper tape. In this way, they contribute to a better environment in Belgium.
Paper tape is made of special kraft paper. This makes it environmentally friendly and 100 percent recyclable. The tape is made from bleached pulp from sustainable forestry. It is self-adhesive and very strong. The tape has a strong adhesive strength and is resistant to humidity and various weather conditions. The tape is provided with a natural solvent adhesive, which creates a very good adhesion.
TIP 4: CHOOSE ECO PAPER PACKING LIST ENVELOPES
You can opt for the sustainable variant if you want to provide your cargo with packing list envelopes. You can send important documents such as packing slips or invoices in these eco packing lists. This is also very useful for export shipments. Customs can then easily see what kind of cargo is involved.
The envelopes have a strong self-adhesive adhesive layer and are also slightly water-repellent. The packing lists are made of 100 percent paper and contain an environmentally friendly, patented adhesive layer. This means that the packing list can be disposed of with paper waste and recycled after use. No plastic is used in the packing list envelope.
TIP 5: CHOOSE SUSTAINABLE WRAPPING FILM
Hand-wrapping film or stretch film is indispensable in the transport or the moving world. Here too, there is a sustainable variant that is environmentally friendly in contrast to the normal wrapping film. The durable wrapping film protects loads from dust, moisture, and dirt. In addition, it ensures that pallet loads remain stable together. The loads cannot slide in this way. In short, wrapping film is very safe to use.
There are two ways to apply the foil. The first way is with a hand wrap film dispenser, and the second way is by means of a machine.
The ECO sustainable wrapping film is transparent, making the load more visible. The film is easily stretchable and tear-resistant. The rolls of wrapping film are made from fifty percent sugar cane derived from biomass. This is 100 percent recyclable. Sugar cane plantations store a lot of CO2, which is very good for the environment. In contrast to normal wrapping film, the durable wrapping film is less thick but still very strong. It can also be stretched further than normal wrapping film.
TIP 6: OPT FOR RECYCLED WOODEN PALLETS
Many pallets are used in today’s business. Many of these companies make sustainable use of pallets, as they attach great importance to corporate social responsibility. They do this by reusing the wooden pallets and thus recycling them. After all, most pallets are reusable. In addition, companies often use pallets for transport and storage. It is very efficient and safe when loading, unloading or transporting goods.
- Wood reduces CO2 emissions
- Wooden pallets catch fire less quickly than plastic pallets
- Wood is reusable
- No packaging tax has to be paid on wooden pallets because wood is sustainable and recyclable
