You’re shopping for a new laptop and find yourselves utterly and hopelessly confused about which brand makes the most reliable laptop. Then obviously, you’d get a few suggestions like “The brand doesn’t matter…it’s the specs” but it can’t be emphasized enough that brands do matter. The quality of the product, reliability of the products, and availability of the service centers are some of the attributes that differ according to the brand which is why you need to think about the brand as well. Brands such as Dell, HP, Lenovo, Apple, MSI, Asus, and Acer dominate the laptop business worldwide and it could be great to rank these brands in terms of their reliability so that you can make decisions easily.
What Does Research About Reliable Laptop Say?
A simple way to recognize the reliability of a brand is to see how many of the laptops produced by that brand undergo repairing services and compare that to the total laptops produced by the company. Doing so will give you a comprehensive idea of what amount of laptops are produced by a company undergoing repairing services. Lesser the repairs, the more reliability, right? That is exactly what the RESCUECOM- an American laptop repairer set out to do. They calculated a simple reliability score based on the number of repairs of particular laptop brands to come with the data. So, this is the conclusion they came up with:
|Brand||Reliability Score||Reliability Grade|
According to their research, Microsoft increasingly deployed configuration testing and processing focusing for longer laptops lifespan. Lenovo and Samsung have come in second and third respectively. Lenovo laptops are sought by many people rightfully for its superior build and product lifetime. Apple comes in fourth in the report as it has managed to maintain reliability due to the unique self-controlling product ecosystem that it has adopted since the advent of the company. At the bottom of the list; there are Dell, HP, and Acer who were determined the least reliable of these major 8 brands.
Dell laptops are made with some of the cheapest materials and apparently, sometimes, different Dell laptops even have different materials. That is not to say that all laptops of Dell are bad. It’s just that in terms of reliability, as a brand. Dell has a considerably low score overall. So, according to this research, the most reliable laptop brand is Microsoft currently. Although the research was done in 2019, it still is significant for 2022.
What Does This Mean?
While saying all this, does it mean you should stay away from any lower-ranking brands? Absolutely no! It’s just a possibility that the chance of your laptops needing a repair can increase if you buy a brand with a lesser reliability grade. However, if you look at the reviews of individual brands, that can be helpful. Dell XPS and Acer Nitro 5 are some of the reliable laptop models that have been highly liked by many users despite their brands having received low credibility scores in this research.
Although the report is significant, it is not recommended to live and die by this report because sometimes many other participants in the value chain of a company might alter the reliability of the brand. Refer to this data and definitely filter brands based on their reliability score but sometimes, specific models are so trustworthy and high quality that the research about the “possibility of needing repair” can not be reflective enough of the brand.
