Save for later

Welllllcome back, YouTube golf fans. I hope you all had a restful, restorative holiday season filled with plenty of golf-shaped gits under the tree. Some of you have been with us before, some of you have not. So remember, what follows is a recap of the biggest and best YouTube golf videos of the week. From serious Joes vs. Pros matches to ‘Jackass’-style taco challenges, we’ll bring you all the highlights—plus some of our thoughts and reactions—each and every Friday until YouTube gets bought by the Saudis. 'Til then, happy watching!

Breaking … 80?

If you scroll down Bob Does Sports’ YouTube page, you’ll notice that every few weeks for the past year, there’s a video titled something like, “Is this the day Bobby Fairways finally breaks 80?” So far, as evidenced by the repeated the refrain, the answer has been no. In fact, after seven attempts, it’s become one of the longest-running (and most compelling) sagas in YouTube golf. After all, we can all relate to the struggle of trying to shatter golf's mythical glass ceiling and Robby Berger seems like nice guy. You hate to see bad things happen to good people.

However, with a new year, comes new opportunity—a fresh start, another chance to remake yourself into the person and golfer you long to be. So when another Bobby Breaking 80 video dropped this week with the title “The Greatest Golf Round of His Life: Breaking 80,” we, plus a million other YouTube golf viewers, raced to see if Bob had finally done it. Behold.

If you haven’t watched yet, here’s your SPOILER off-ramp. If you don’t want to know what happened, throw that blinker on and get off here …

Of course, the rest of us now know that despite his best efforts, Bob’s quest will continue on. It’s honestly agonizing to watch at times. You can’t help but feel for the guy, especially as three-putts the 14th, 15th and 16th holes to finish with an oh-so-close 82. BUT, and it’s a big but, this means we get more Bobby Breaking 80 in 2026. That’s probably little consolation for Bob right about now, but it’s good news for the Bob Does Sports channel, where these videos are huge performers, and for all of us in the peanut gallery who love nothing more than watching David try to take down Goliath. So hats off to you, Mr. Fairways. Thanks for taking (another) one for the team.

Quick Hits

Bob Does Sports

In addition to Bob’s latest attempt at glory, the BDS gang (sounds like a K-pop group) kicked off the new year with two other videos this week. You can watch Joey Cold Cuts take on a ponytailed troll in “the most intense hater’s match of all time,” or keep it in the family with Fat Perez and Joey Cold Cuts, who face off in what is, surprisingly, their first mano-y-mano showdown. The world is your oyster, folks.

Grant Horvat

This week, Grant Horvat takes on Jackson Koivun, the top-ranked amateur golfer on earth. Getting our butts kicked by a 20-year-old isn’t exactly how we would choose to start our 2026, but Horvat—who has squared up to Scottie Scheffler, Bryson DeChambeau and Nelly Korda in recent months—is nothing if not a masochist.

Peter Finch

Speaking of Grant, he also appeared on Peter Finch’s channel this week for a match against the British golf YouTuber with a beard who isn’t Rick Shiels. See who took home the bragging rights here.

Good Good Golf

Good Good Golf continue their $1 vs. $100,000 road trip to Pebble Beach. If you long to live in a meritocratic society based on your last round of golf, welcome to the dream and/or nightmare. Also if you’ve ever wondered what ever happened to Stephen Castaneda, the GG OG sat down with Good Good Podcast this week to share his story.

GM Golf

Good Good’s Garrett Clark teamed up with Bryson DeChambeau on his solo channel, but instead trying to break 50, this time they’re trying to break 60. If 2025 was a year of reaching for the stars, I guess 2026 is all about knowing your limits.

Madjack Golf

This week, Madjack Golf continues his quest to find the best public golf course in the state of Florida with a stop at Southern Dunes. There's no shortage of great tracks in the Sunshine State, so you’ll have to watch and see how this one stacks up.

Luke Kwon

Finally, if you caught the golf travel bug heading into 2026, Luke Kwon is about to turn that fever into a raging inferno as he heads to Vietnam to play Ba Na Hills. The Luke Donald-design has been consistently voted the best in all of Vietnam—even all of Asia—and looks absolutely stunning, so make sure to scope it out.
