'I would not play LIV if no money was offered': Old Ben An tweet resurfaces after jump to LIV Golf

The moral of the story here—well, the moral of almost every 21st-century story—is to never post. At the very best, you'll get some likes, but more likely than not, you'll end being called a hypocrite by social media for changing your mind years after the initial take.
At least that's how it's going for Byeong Hun An (better known as Ben An), the South Korean pro who recently decided to make the jump to LIV Golf for more money than the rest of us could ever dream. Years ago, the winless vet expressed very little interest in LIV and said that it would take quite a bit of cash to get him to leave the PGA Tour. And, well, here we are.
“I would not play LIV if no money was offered,” he stated back in 2023. “I like playing on PGA Tour. Don’t see a reason for trying LIV without lots of money.”
To be fair, An’s not just leaving for a random LIV spot. He’ll be the captain of the newly formed Korean Golf Club, partnered up with Younghan Song, Minkyu Kim and Danny Lee. It’s a push by LIV Golf to reach the “Korean market,” and we’re betting that this global play will come with “lots of money.”
“Joining LIV Golf is a defining move for my future,” An said. “LIV Golf is becoming a leading force in the game and a truly global golf league with a clear vision for the future; I see a great opportunity to grow my career as captain of Korean Golf Club: To compete at the highest level, embrace a dynamic team environment, and help shape this new era of the sport.”
It’s not surprising that X would resurface the now-deleted tweet for a bit of schadenfreude. That’s basically all the app is at this point. We all know this, and now Ben An definitely knows this. Good luck getting an opinionated post out of him again.
