Overview
Watching live tournament golf has always been different than any other sport, because the action is happening across 18 holes with dozens of players active at the same time in different locations. That’s why the PGA Tour has developed a feature on its app that allows fans to follow every shot and putt hit by every player in the field, even those not shown on TV, both during and after a round. This digital second-screen experience, called TOURCAST, provides 3D imagery, dynamic shot trails, green views, radar data and video highlights, and it’s constantly evolving. Golf Digest’s Senior Editor Luke Kerr-Dineen wanted to learn more about the way this impressive data gathering works and the cool new features that are in the pipeline from TOURCAST and its cloud partner AWS, so he paid a visit to the PGA Tour Studios in Ponte Vedra to learn more.
